Mental Health and Nature

I had just spent the most of my weekend asleep. Fatigued with no motivation and down in the dumps when the sun and birds were out enjoying theirs, I was irritable, tired and grumpy wrapped in my bed.

Forcing myself to get into my activewear, jump in the car and drive 20 more minutes up the road, I plodded to the entry of one of my favourite bush walks nestled away in Onewhero, Franklin.

I took my little dog and headed into the pathway taking in all of natures surroundings from Tuis to Kawakawa, Koru to Pungas and the peaceful sound of water trickling.

Self-care to me is doing something nice for myself and given that I have this little nugget of paradise right in my backyard and walked this track many times, I knew I would feel much better.

Harkers Reserve is a pleasant easy walking track through farmland and native bush with views and special treat at the turning point.

Allow 30-40 minutes each way, just under 5km of nature immersion beauty at its best.

Treat your dog at the waterhole on your way back, take a seat at the gigantic pine tree for a rest and make sure you take plenty of pics.

If you’d like to join us next time, get in touch, you deserve it!

Can you guess what the special treat is?
